Her world fell apart. She was her best friend, her support, her strength, she was the most precious person in her life.....her adorable mother. But she died tragically, and left her only daughter all alone.

Then grief came to take the place of her mother. Sadness overwhelmed her, the tears flowed, numbness set in, the disbelief, the pain and the agony of a broken, aching heart. How could she live without the most precious person in her life?

Brenda Haseldine died in July 2005 of bowel cancer.

Jacqueline read the following words at her mother's funeral:

"How blessed am I, to have been chosen to be Brenda’s daughter. She was an absolute gift to this world. Brenda is a very rare, sweet, gentle, precious and extraordinary woman.

She would have to be one of the most unselfish, and the most considerate person you would ever meet. Not once did she ever complain about anything. She was always positive no matter what she was going through.

She never thought of herself, she only wanted to bless and encourage others. Mum’s faith, love and peace just radiated from her, and everyone who came in contact with Brenda, knew how incredibly special this woman is.

"Bren & Jacq" in happier days

Brenda is the absolute epitamy of LOVE, and there is a passage written that I believe perfectly describes who Brenda is. This verse is about the meaning of LOVE:

  • LOVE suffers and endures long, it is always patient and kind. LOVE never is envious, jealous, proud, or boastful.

  • LOVE is not arrogant or rude and does not act unbecomingly.

  • LOVE does not insist on its own rights, or its own way, for it is not self seeking. It is not offended, irritable, anxious or resentful.
  • LOVE thinks of no evil, and takes no account of  the evil done to it. It pays no attention to being suffered wrongly.

  • LOVE is not happy at injustice, but it rejoices when the truth prevails, and it is ready to believe the best of every person.

  • LOVE never gives up, it never loses faith, it is always hopeful and it stands firm through every circumstance. It endures without weakening.

  • LOVE never fails, it never fades, or comes to an end.
    1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

Brenda’s love and spirit will continue to live on, as a true example of how we should LOVE."

Grief is a beast. It can destroy people in their day of sorrow. Grief is like a thick, black, heavy cloud that envelopes and consumes a person with such intense sadness. Grief can open the door to all sorts of problems and sicknesses if we allow it to stay too long.

Sometimes life is so hard, especially when we lose a loved one. In our time of grief we can be comforted knowing God can help us through the sad times and He promises to wipe away every tear from our eyes; neither shall there be anguish, sorrow or mourning, nor grief nor pain any more. Trust in the Lord for He will get you through...
